Overheard a nomad say he books hostels for 2 weeks minimum now

Was at a co-working spot in Medellin last month and this guy mentioned he never books less than 14 days anywhere anymore. Said it saves him like 30% on nightly rates plus he gets a better spot in the room. I usually bounce around every 4 or 5 days but maybe I am losing money on that. Anyone else do longer stays to cut costs?

Why wouldn't you book the longer stay if it saves you that much cash? Hostels are literally just a place to sleep, so who cares if you're there for two weeks or two days. The discount adds up fast, like that 30% is real money you could spend on actual fun stuff instead of overpaying for a bed. Plus those long term people always get the best lockers and the quiet spots in the room because the staff knows they're sticking around. I switched to booking 10 day minimums last year and my wallet definitely noticed the difference, even if my travel style got a little more predictable.

Wait, is this why I keep getting the bunk beds next to the snorer while the 14-day people are all tucked into the quiet corner with a view? Guess my "fly by the seat of my pants" strategy is just costing me money and sleep.

Double down on that Tessa, long stays get the loyalty treatment for sure.
