Found a stat about how much water dish soap saves me
I was reading through some government site last week about water usage and found out that using a sink full of soapy water instead of running the tap the whole time saves like 8 gallons per dish session. I've always just let the water run while scrubbing, but after that I started filling a basin. My water bill dropped about 12 bucks this month alone. Has anyone else tried switching to a basin method or am I just late to this?

Yeah the hot water thing threw me off too. I just got used to rinsing under warm water instead of scalding hot and it's fine now. Knocking over the bowl is a pain though, I switched to one of those big plastic tubs from the dollar store.

My buddy Paul switched to the basin method last year and his water bill dropped so fast he started timing his showers too. He went from 45 minute showers down to 10 minutes and now he hovers around 2 bucks a month for water total. I tried the basin thing but I kept knocking over the bowl and flooding my counter. Did you get used to not having the hot water running the whole time to rinse?
