That moment I realized I was using the same password for everything

Last month my email got hit in a breach and suddenly my Netflix was logged in from Russia. Found out my password there was the same one I used for banking. Changed every single account that week, 47 passwords in total. How do you guys keep track of all yours without losing your mind?

Is anyone really talking about how many of those 47 accounts you actually need anymore? I went through the same thing and ended up killing half my accounts because I realized I hadn't used them in two years. Keeping fewer logins is way easier than trying to memorize 47 different passwords.

47 passwords in one week" is wild, but it makes me wonder... how many of those did you actually change to something unique and strong, versus just swapping out one reused password for another? Like, did you start using a password manager after all that, or are you just relying on your memory again?

Honestly @elliotm57 that was me last year too, I thought I was being clever using variations of my dog's name and a number. Wound up with 30 different passwords written on a sticky note hidden under my keyboard which is basically the same as using none.
