Hit 100 gallons of stored rainwater this week and it felt huge

I've been working on my rain catchment system for about 6 months now. Started with just a single 55 gallon barrel under a downspout. This week I finally got my fourth barrel hooked up and connected them all together. That brought my total storage to 220 gallons, which is way more than I thought I'd ever need. It's already saved me from hauling water during a dry stretch last month. Has anyone else here set up a simple barrel chain that surprised you with how much water you collected?

Has anyone checked if your gutters and downspouts can actually handle the extra flow when you get a heavy rain? I've seen some setups where the barrels fill up fast but the overflow dumps right next to the foundation, which can cause leaks or even damage if the ground gets too saturated. Just something to watch out for with a bigger system.

Rolled out of bed last week to check my barrels after a big storm and realized I forgot to hook up the overflow hose first, so I basically just made a 55 gallon water feature next to my foundation. My neighbor now thinks I'm starting an indoor swimming pool business. Definitely learned my lesson about checking the simple stuff before the rain hits.

Does your neighbor charge admission for the guided tours?
