I spent $300 on a tablet for jail education programs and it barely lasted a week before getting trashed

Bought three of these refurbished Samsung tablets for the county lockup's new self-study program. Thought they'd hold up since they're built for schools. Nope. Inmates found a way to crack the screens and jam the charging ports within 7 days. Shoulda just stuck with books. Has anyone else tried funding tech for prison ed and had it backfire?

Oh man, that's rough. I gotta say though, those Samsungs weren't ACTUALLY made for schools. They're made for consumers, just marketed as durable. Real school tablets go through way more testing like drop tests and sealed ports. You probably needed something from a brand that specifically makes rugged education tech, not just a regular tablet with a fancy case. It's a shame the program got shut down so fast though, that's a lot of money down the drain.

Even the "rugged" education brands break just as fast when kids get ahold of them.

Wait, you're saying even the rugged ones aren't really rugged? That actually makes a lot of sense now.
