I just found out my whole layer system for commercial plans was a mess

I was helping a new hire at my old firm in Denver and she asked why I had separate layers for 'WALL-INT-8IN' and 'WALL-EXT-8IN'. It hit me that I was making things way too complex for no reason. I've been doing it that way for like five years. How do you guys keep your layer naming simple for big projects?

Wow, that's a huge wake-up call. I used to split layers by exact wall type too, like having 'WALL-INT-GYP-5.8' and 'WALL-INT-CMU-8'. Total overkill. Now I just use 'A-WALL' for everything architectural. Let the lineweight and color do the work, not the name. It cleaned up my standards sheet by half. @sage_moore37, that's way better than printer problems.
