Tried a drafting scale trick for my shed layout

Measuring everything to scale on paper first kept me from buying wood that wouldn't fit. I just used a regular ruler and some notebook paper, like a quick draft, and it saved a trip back to the store.

Honestly, is drafting to scale that serious for a shed layout? Tbh, a quick sketch usually gets the job done without all the measuring. Ngl, it seems like making a simple thing too complicated.

Ever try fitting a door that's two inches off?

Eyeballed my deck once, now it drains into my neighbor's yard!

Okay, but is drafting to scale really that big a deal for a shed? Most sheds are simple boxes, and a rough sketch with basic numbers should work. I built mine just winging it with a tape measure and some pencil lines on the ground, and it came out straight and works fine. Being precise can stop waste, but it also adds time and effort for something that doesn't need to be perfect. How many shed projects actually fail so bad that wood is wasted? It feels like making a simple job too complex for no real reason.
