PSA: Duct taped my garden hose last week
Sprayed water everywhere for three days before I noticed a second hole I missed. Check your whole length before you think you fixed it, not just the obvious split.

Does water have some kind of sick sense of humor or what? It's like it deliberately waits until you're overconfident and then finds that one tiny gap to make a fool of you. I swear my truck's back seat has like three different "cracks" that water just magically discovers every time I wash the floors. One time I spent an hour perfecting a seal job and it still found a way. Guess that's just how it goes, you learn to accept the little puddle or just give up and let it happen.

Water's basically a liquid detective, it is. Spent a whole afternoon patching up a drip in my downspout elbow, felt like a genius, then the next rainstorm came and it was dripping from a spot five inches away I never even looked at. Seems like it stores up pressure and just waits for the weakest link in the chain to give out. Bet if we could see the microscopic cracks in stuff, we'd realize there's a hundred potential leaks in everything we own.

Three times out of ten the real leak is actually at the fitting connection where the hose meets the spigot, not the hose itself. Check that brass washer before you start patching random holes.
