Vent: The amount of guys who think a wire nut is just 'tight enough' is wild
I was fixing a flickering light in a house in Tempe, and the whole problem was a single red wire nut on a 12/2 splice that you could pull apart with your fingers. The guy before me must have just twisted it twice and called it good. That's not a connection, it's a fire waiting to happen. I always twist the wires together with my Kleins first, then twist the nut on until it's solid. How many of you actually check every splice you find, or just trust the last guy?

Good grief, that's terrifying. I've been guilty of a lazy splice in my own house before, and finding it later made me cringe. You just can't trust anyone, yourself included.

Guilty of a lazy splice" hits home, I once fixed my own hack job and felt like a total clown.

Been there. My fix was to cut out the whole bad section and use a proper junction box with wire nuts. Took pictures before I closed the wall up this time. It's a pain but doing it right the second time is the only way to sleep at night.
