Struggling with a client's blackheads led me to change my pre-extraction cleanse.
Switching to a hydrating cleanser (it seems obvious now) solved the issue, so what do other estheticians use before extractions?

Hydrating cleansers? They just smear oil around.

My cousin swore by this cream cleanser that left a film... she said it was 'dewy' but it just looked sweaty. We went out for coffee and her sunglasses kept sliding off her nose. I tried it once and my pillowcase was stained the next morning. She still uses it though, claims her skin needs the extra oil. Stuff like that makes me stick to plain old soap and water... less mess.

Watched my friend Dana buy into that dewy cleanser trend last summer. She kept complaining about her makeup separating an hour after application. Her dog started licking her face more because it tasted like lotion. She finally switched back to her old gel wash after her boyfriend asked if she was feeling feverish all the time. Is that glow worth all the hassle?

Honestly, that tracks completely. Tried one of those "hydrating" cleansers last year and it felt like I was washing my face with cold cream from my grandma's vanity. My skin just felt slick all day, like @ruby310 said, it really does just smear oil around. Couldn't even wear my headphones without them sliding off. The whole "dewy" thing just seems like a fancy word for "greasy" to me. Went right back to my basic foaming wash after a week of feeling like a glazed donut.
