Serious question, I read that the average fence post hole is only 24 inches deep in my county

Found that in the local building department's inspection data, and it's way shallower than the 36 inches we all aim for. Anyone else see numbers that make you question the standard practice?

Heard the same about frost lines being ignored.

What did they do for your foundation? I had a place where they skimped on the footings and we ended up with a cracked slab after the first hard freeze. I had to get a structural engineer out to write a report before the builder would fix it right. It was a huge hassle but getting that expert paperwork made all the difference.

That's a rough situation with the slab. Getting that engineer's report was the right move, even if it was a pain. Paperwork from a pro is the only thing that makes some builders listen. Makes you wonder what else gets cut.
