Can we talk about paying $300 for a social media scrubber after my old job fired me for a tweet?

It found some old forum posts from 2012 that were way worse than the tweet, so I guess it saved me from another mess. Anyone else ever panic-buy a service like that before applying somewhere new?

Panic-bought one before a first date (which, looking back, says a lot about my priorities).

Ever notice how we buy stuff to fix a feeling instead of the actual problem? Like buying a new outfit because you're nervous someone won't like the real you. It's a whole shopping cart of bandaids.

That first date jitter buy is just getting ready, not a messed up priority. Sometimes you need the right tool to feel confident enough to show the real you. It's like checking your hair in the mirror, not hiding who you are. A new thing can be the boost that lets you relax and actually be yourself. I see it as putting on your game face, not covering something up.
