A homeowner in Austin pointed out my plank stagger looked like a factory pattern
They said it felt too perfect and showed me photos from their last house. I used to do a simple 1/3 offset for speed, but now I mix in random lengths from cut-offs first. It takes a bit longer, but the floors look way more natural. Anyone else get called out on this and change their method?

That "too perfect" comment must have been a real gut check.

Yeah, been there. Got told I was "too reliable" once, like it was a bad thing. My crime was remembering her coffee order and showing up on time. Apparently I should have mixed up a latte with an oat milk cappuccino and been fashionably late to keep things interesting.

Reminds me of a friend who got ghosted for being "too nice," whatever that means.
