Showerthought: Laying hexagon tiles in my kitchen made me see them everywhere

I did it as a weekend project last month. Now I'm getting calls from locals wanting the same look.

Yeah, "peaked five years ago" is right! Next you'll start seeing them on manhole covers and stop signs. The bees must have a secret side hustle in interior design, because their honeycombs really won this trend war.

Honestly that pattern was already everywhere before your kitchen. Basic subway tile grids got so boring that hexagons took over every coffee shop floor and lobby bathroom. Feels less like a discovery and more like joining a trend that peaked five years ago.

So my kitchen's a time machine?

Wonder if @cora331 is onto something about the trend cycle. Seeing hexagons on bathroom floors and coffee shops is one thing, but now my brain spots them in graphic design everywhere, like app icons and website backgrounds. Does that mean the pattern is actually stale, or just so baked into basic design now that we can't escape it? Feels weird to install something as permanent as tile for a look that might already feel dated in a few years.
