Stumbled upon algae-based flooring in a trade magazine
I was flipping through a flooring trade mag at the supplier. Saw algae-based tiles that trap carbon. Has anyone actually put in this kind of floor?

Algae tiles trapping carbon? That's hard to believe. How does that even work in a real house? You walk on it, spill stuff, and it's supposed to just suck up CO2? Most floors just sit there doing nothing. This sounds like a gimmick from a sci-fi movie. I mean, do you have to water it or something to keep it alive?

Yeah the sci-fi movie feeling is real! I felt the same until my friend installed some. You don't water it, it's sealed in, and honestly seeing the green underfoot just makes it click.

Nancy, your spill concerns are spot on.

Rowan's right about spills, but sealed algae tiles can handle a coffee accident.
