Talked to a builder about subfloor prep and it stuck with me

He said he's seen more callbacks from moisture issues than bad cuts or seams. Specifically mentioned a job in Eugene where they had to pull up 800 square feet of new LVP because the slab wasn't tested. Anyone else running into more moisture problems lately?

Yeah, that part about the slab not being tested is so real. My buddy had a whole main floor ruined because they skipped the moisture check on a concrete subfloor. It was a huge mess and cost way more to fix later. Now he tests every single time, no exceptions.

It's one of those things that seems fine until it isn't. I saw a kitchen floor buckle and warp a few months after install because the slab was still putting out moisture. The installer didn't check, just went ahead. The whole tear-out and redo process was a nightmare for the homeowner. That small test saves so much trouble down the line.

Come on, is it really that big of a deal? I've seen plenty of slabs poured and floors go down without any fancy test. That story sounds like a worst case scenario. Most concrete is dry enough after a few weeks. Feels like another thing to scare people into paying for extra steps.
