Why I quit big finance forums over censorship fears
Got tired of my posts getting deleted for sharing unpopular money views. I moved to a platform that doesn't moderate speech. Now I can talk finance without someone shutting me down.

My posts about buying gold during a market crash always vanished on the big forums. Once I suggested skipping 401k contributions to pay off debt, and it was gone in minutes. I must have a talent for ticking off moderators without even trying. Now on a free speech site, my terrible ideas can live forever. At least there's no one to stop me from embarrassing myself publicly.

Totally get this. Had a moderator delete my replies for just questioning mainstream investment advice. Moved to a smaller forum where they let you actually debate ideas.

When you talked about moderators deleting replies for questioning advice, I thought of my friend Jake. He posted on a big parenting forum about not using standard sleep training. His comments were deleted fast, and he got a warning for 'spreading misinformation'. He was just sharing his own experience, but they didn't want any different views. Now he's on a smaller site where he can say what he thinks without fear. Do you feel like the smaller places let you have better debates?

On MoneyTalks, I got a week-long ban for debating the 4% retirement rule. The mod said I was causing friction, but I was just asking for sources. Have you found any smaller forums where they allow real back and forth on topics like this?
