Update: A local park ranger here lost his job over a weekend tweet
I heard from my cousin that Mike, who's been a ranger at Riverside Park for years, got fired on Monday. He tweeted a joke about littering after seeing trash left from a picnic, calling people lazy. It got shared a bunch and the park district saw it. They said it was unprofessional and let him go, even though he was off duty. I think that's way too harsh because he was just fed up with a real problem. Mike always cared about keeping our parks clean, and now he's out of work. Does a personal tweet really deserve getting fired over?
