Lost a $500 client because I forgot to back up a file
I was editing a video at a coffee shop in Portland when my laptop crashed, and I hadn't saved the project for two hours. Client pulled the contract after I missed the deadline, and now I keep a backup drive in my bag at all times. Anybody else lose work over a stupid technical glitch?

Tbh, that laptop crash is a total nightmare.

My old laptop crashed twice last year and I just used the cloud backup.

Samk77 is right about the nightmare part. Makes you wonder if clients should get a heads up about how fragile digital work can be. Like, maybe we all need to talk more about the real risk of data loss before starting a project.
