Picked the local coffee roaster over Starbucks this morning, won't go back
I usually grab Starbucks on the way to work but decided to try Fullerton Coffee Roasters on Harbor instead. Their drip coffee was $3.50 compared to $4.75 for my usual order. Honestly it tasted way fresher and I didn't get that jittery feeling after. Has anyone else switched from a chain to a local spot around here?

I paid $5.25 for a plain drip coffee at a local place in Fullerton last month and it was honestly bitter and over-roasted. The barista acted like she was doing me a favor just taking my order. I went to Starbucks the next day and got the same thing for $3.85, it was smooth and they had me in and out in under 3 minutes. I get that the big chain beans are maybe not the freshest, but for my money I need consistency. The local roasters around here seem to change their blend every week and half the time it tastes burnt. Maybe I just picked a bad shop, but I’ve tried three different ones now and only one was actually good.

Made the same switch a few months ago when I stopped at Redlands Coffee Company on my way to the hardware store. Their house blend was the same price as what I was paying at the chain place and I noticed my stomach didn't get upset like it used to. The real surprise was how much better the customer service felt. The barista remembered my order after just two visits and we had a nice chat about their roasting process. It has been about six months now and I cannot see myself going back.
