Took me two hours to find the fuse box in my own house

I needed to swap out a dead outlet in my kitchen last weekend, so I grabbed my flashlight and went to flip the breaker. I spent 45 minutes searching in the garage, the laundry room, even a closet before my neighbor told me it was behind a painting in the hallway. Has anyone else had a fuse box hiding in plain sight like that?

Why I stopped bagging my yard waste after 6 years of doing it wrong

My next door neighbor came over last week when I was piling leaves into those paper bags from Home Depot. She told me that our city's compost program actually prefers loose piles at the curb because the bags take extra time to break down. I always thought I was being neat and organized. She showed me her pile from last month that was already gone in 2 weeks while my bagged stuff sat there for a month. Now I just rake everything straight into a heap by the gutter. Has anyone else gotten better results skipping the bags?

Walked into that new taco spot on Harbor and felt like I was back in 1998

I stopped by El Rinconsito last Friday around noon. The whole place had that old school tile and the menu was just handwritten on a whiteboard. No QR codes, no tablets at the table. It was refreshing honestly. Tacos were $3 each and came with fresh salsa in those little plastic cups. Has anyone else noticed that more places here are trying to go back to the old style instead of being fancy?

Just had the worst Friday at Fullerton Brewery and it changed my mind about their happy hour

I used to think Fullerton Brewery's happy hour was the best deal in town, but last Friday changed everything. I showed up at 4pm, ordered a $6 IPA and a burger, and waited 45 minutes for the food while the bartender ignored me for regulars. The burger came out cold and the bun was soggy, and when I asked for a redo, they just microwaved it. After that experience, I'm sticking to Bootstrap Brewing on Commonwealth for my after work beers. Has anyone else had a similar run in with their service lately?

Took me a year to finally ask the custodian Miguel, who laughed and showed me the box in the storage closet, now I'm wondering what other "insider info" I've been missing around here, anyone else ever get burned by bad hearsay?

That older gentleman at the Fullerton farmers market who gave me a lemon and a lesson

Back in 2018, I was at the farmers market on Wilshire and stopped at a small stall run by an older guy selling citrus. He handed me a lemon for free and said, "This tree is 40 years old, and it still gives me more than I need." That stuck with me more than any advice about gardening or buying local. I think about him every time I drive past that spot and see how much the area has changed since then. Anyone else have a random encounter with a local that felt like it meant something more?

Question about switching from gas to electric lawn mowers

I used to mow my lawn every Saturday with my old gas mower until I got a $80 ticket for noise at 9am last June. Now I use a corded electric one from Harbor Freight and it's way quieter but the cord is a pain. Anyone in Fullerton made the switch and found a good battery option?

Why does no one talk about the parking at Craig Park on weekends

I tried to go for a run there last Saturday around 9am and it took me 15 minutes just to find a spot... people were circling like vultures. The lot near the tennis courts was completely full and the overflow area had like 3 cars blocking the exit. I ended up parking on a side street and walking half a mile just to get to the trail. Has anyone else had this problem or do I just need to show up at 6am to get in?

Hit 100 days of walking the Fullerton loop trail and nobody warned me about the knee thing

I started walking the loop every morning back in March, just a mile or so. Hit day 100 last Thursday and I was expecting to feel great, but my right knee started clicking on day 87 and hasn't stopped. Everyone says walking is low impact but nobody mentions how your joints adjust after months of the same pavement. Has anyone else dealt with weird knee noise after building a routine like that?

Was always anti-bike lane on Chapman until I actually rode it last Tuesday

I've been driving Chapman for 15 years and always thought those bike lanes were a waste of space that just caused traffic. Then I had to bike to a repair shop on Euclid and actually used the lane myself. Anyone else change their mind about something after trying it firsthand?

Heard a kid at the Fullerton library say something that stuck with me

Was sitting near the kids section last Tuesday waiting for my daughter. This boy, maybe 10 years old, told his mom he didn't want to read a book unless it had a map inside. Said maps make the story real because you can see where the characters actually go. It got me thinking about how we lose that sense of place as we get older. Has anyone else noticed their kids asking for things like maps or diagrams in their books?

Ran into Mrs. Jenkins at the Fullerton farmer's market and she changed my mind about something simple

I was buying some avocados last Saturday near the Wilshire entrance when Mrs. Jenkins from my street walked up. She saw me eyeing a bag of oranges from California and said 'those are sprayed three times before they hit the shelf, honey.' She told me she only buys from the old guy at the corner stand who grows everything in his backyard in Anaheim. I dropped my bag right there and walked over to his stall. He sold me a dozen for $4 and they actually taste like oranges. Has anyone else noticed that the produce at the big stands seems off lately?

That new boba spot on Harbor closed after 2 weeks

I walked by last Tuesday and saw the 'grand opening' banner, but by this Monday they had a locked gate and a landlord notice taped to the door. The guy working there told me opening weekend they only had like 5 customers total. Has anyone else noticed places popping up and disappearing super fast around here lately?

Picked the local coffee roaster over Starbucks this morning, won't go back

I usually grab Starbucks on the way to work but decided to try Fullerton Coffee Roasters on Harbor instead. Their drip coffee was $3.50 compared to $4.75 for my usual order. Honestly it tasted way fresher and I didn't get that jittery feeling after. Has anyone else switched from a chain to a local spot around here?

Paid $150 to have my old chimney tuckpointed and it still leaks every time it storms.
