Heard a client say they used a 'quick dry' spray from a hardware store on an oak table

They were bragging about how fast it set, maybe 20 minutes. I had to check the piece later and the finish was already cloudy and peeling at the edges. It looked like plastic wrap stuck on there. That stuff is not made for furniture. Has anyone else had to fix a finish ruined by those aerosol cans?

Remember my buddy tried that stuff on a pine dresser he was flipping. He sent me a picture a week later and the whole surface had this weird, milky haze and felt tacky, like it never fully cured. We had to strip the whole thing back to bare wood, it was a total mess. He learned the hard way that fast and good rarely go together with finishes.

My last "quick" refinishing job is still sticky, a real monument to my own impatience.

Yeah that milky haze is the worst, it's like the finish just gave up halfway through. I mean, I've been there too, rushing a project because I wanted it done and then it looks awful for weeks. It's like the universe's way of telling me to slow down, you know? Your buddy's story is a good reminder, @amy_craig28, that sometimes the extra drying time is just part of the deal. I guess I need to learn to be more patient, which is hard because I'm usually trying to finish stuff during my kids' nap time.
