Spent 2 months trying to find a portable induction burner that wouldn't trip my apartment's ancient breaker

I live in a building built in the 1950s over in Portland and the wiring is a nightmare. After the gas stove debate got me curious, I bought a Duxtop 1800W burner and it kept popping the breaker every time I tried to boil pasta. Took me forever to realize I needed to run it on the low setting for the first 10 minutes and then ramp up slowly. Has anyone else dealt with older apartments and induction throwing a fit?

Did you try flipping the breaker and running an extension cord from a different outlet?

Did you use the SAME extension cord on the other circuit?

Flip the breaker first, then run a heavy duty extension cord from a totally different circuit like one in the kitchen or garage. That'll tell you if the problem is in the original outlet or the wiring to it. If it works fine on the other circuit, you know it's not the tool or the extension cord itself. Man, I've had issues where just one room's circuit was trippy and swapping to a different one solved everything in a heartbeat. Just make sure the cord is rated for whatever you're plugging in or you'll just get another headache.
