Unpopular opinion: I always avoided GMO produce, but a chat with a local grower opened my eyes
Hearing how GMO seeds let him farm with fewer chemicals convinced me of their benefits.

That part about farming with fewer chemicals really hits on a bigger thing I see everywhere. People get a strong idea about something, like GMOs or even how they vote, from a headline or what their friends say. They stick with it forever without ever actually talking to someone who does the thing for a living. It's wild how a single real conversation can flip a belief you held for years. We end up fighting over stuff we don't really understand. That chat with the grower is worth more than a hundred scary articles.

What gets me is how we're all so separated now. We don't live near farms or factories anymore. Our jobs and hobbies keep us in little boxes. So we never bump into someone who does the work we argue about. It's easier to trust a scary story than find a real person to ask.

Had the same gut reaction to lab grown meat until I talked with a scientist working on it. Hearing him explain the real environmental goals, not the sci fi hype, completely changed my view. That one talk did more for me than all the online arguing I'd ever read.

Totally get what @the_mary means. We're all stuck in our own bubbles. A real chat beats reading stuff online every time.
