That $50 gift card I found in a park bench turned out to be empty

I found a Starbucks gift card tucked under the armrest of a bench at Riverside Park last Tuesday, looked untouched. Got all excited, went to load it into my app at the counter, and it came back with a zero balance. Anyone else run into fake cards left as a trick or something?

Had that happen to me, always check the balance on the company's site before you even walk inside.
