My competitive worm charming attempt ended with a garden hose disaster last spring
I was out in my backyard on Oak Street trying to beat my personal record of 17 worms in 5 minutes using a pitchfork vibration technique. But I got overconfident and hit an underground sprinkler line, sending a geyser of water 8 feet into the air. Took me 45 minutes and three trips to Home Depot to find a compression fitting that actually fit the 1/2 inch pipe. Has anyone else here accidentally flooded their yard during a charm session?

Man that sucks. I hit a sprinkler line myself two summers ago. 3/4 inch pipe though. Water shot up like a lawn fountain for a solid 10 minutes before I found the shutoff valve. Compression fittings are a pain. Had to dig out a 2 foot wide hole just to get enough room to work. Took me two tries because I forgot to wrap the threads with plumbers tape the first time. Now I map out where all my underground pipes are before I even stick a pitchfork in the ground.

Mapping out the pipes is the real pro move honestly. I learned that lesson after I nicked a gas line once while trying to plant a stupid lilac bush. Scared me half to death. Now I keep a diagram on my phone of the whole yard. Compression fittings are the actual devil though. I swear they always leak no matter how careful you are. Every time I use one I just assume I'll be digging there again in a year or two.
