Traded my electric engraver for a cheap hand chisel after a near disaster in my garage

Used to buzz out designs on glass and metal with a Dremel for like 2 years. Loud, messy, dust everywhere. Then 3 months ago I sneezed while holding it and carved a gash into my thumb. Switched to a $8 hand chisel from Ace Hardware that same day. Way quieter, I can actually hear my audiobooks now, and the lines look way cleaner. Has anyone else jumped from power tools to hand tools for a hobby and not looked back?

The audiobook thing is real. I used to run a circular saw for woodworking and could never hear my shows, finally switched to a hand saw and plane and now I actually get through whole chapters while I work.

That bit about hearing audiobooks now really hit home, I switched from a hedge trimmer to hand pruners last spring and it was wild how much more I noticed the birds and stuff. I mean, my hands got sore at first but now I can actually pay attention to my podcasts without pausing every five minutes. There's something about the quiet that makes the whole thing feel less like a chore.
