Serious question, did anyone else ditch the fancy lawn service and just buy a $200 mower?

I used to pay $80 a month for a crew to mow and blow, but after 8 months I realized I was paying for them to trim around my garden gnome collection wrong. Now I spend 45 minutes every Saturday pushing a Toro around and honestly my yard looks the same. Anyone else just say forget it and do it yourself?

Oh man, same boat here! I was dropping like $100 a month on this company and they kept scalping my lawn so bad it looked like a putting green. Pulled the trigger on a Craftsman mower for like $250 two summers ago and I actually kinda look forward to Saturday mornings now. Sure, it takes me an hour and my knees complain the next day, but I'm not paying someone to do a half-assed job that I could do myself anyway. Plus I found out my neighbor also mows his own so we just wave at each other over the fence now, it's like a secret club.
