Serious question, anyone else check their car doors twice after the Aldi parking lot incident?
I was loading groceries into my trunk at the Aldi on Broad Street last Tuesday around 1am and saw some dude try three different car handles in the row next to me. He didn't get into any, but it made me realize how fast someone can just walk through and test locks while you're distracted. How often do you actually double-check your doors are locked when you're parked late at night?

Check your doors the second you close them (seriously, watch the light flash or the handle go up). That habit's saved me twice from forgetting at late night parking lots.

Man, I gotta push back a little on that. The light flash means the car's electronics are happy, but it doesn't always mean the lock clicked fully on the second try. Old latch mechanisms or worn out handles can fool you into thinking it's locked when it's not. I've had a door pop back open on me after the lights flashed, so I always give the handle a gentle tug too. Trusting just the flash or the handle going up can still leave you stranded, you know?

Reminds me of the time I spent five minutes trying to lock my buddy's truck before realizing the handle was just busted and the door had been shut the whole time. Felt real smart standing there in the rain yanking on a dead latch.
