Found a local handyman who fixed my fence for half the price of the big guys
Last month my fence blew over in a storm in Tempe, and I got quotes from three big companies that started at $600. A neighbor recommended this guy named Mike who did it for $300 cash, and he even fixed a gate I didn't ask about. Has anyone else had luck skipping the big contractors for smaller jobs?

Ask him about his insurance before you need it and can't find him.

Show your policy to him and ask what he covers... I did that with my guy and found out he didn't cover water damage from a leaky pipe. @mark_ward, that's the same kind of thing you're getting at I think... always double check the fine print before you sign.
