Found a letter my dad wrote me before his surgery in 2019

I was cleaning out my closet last night and found a folded note inside an old shoebox. My dad wrote it before his bypass surgery at St. Luke's Hospital back in 2019, just in case things went wrong. He talked about being proud of me for sticking with my welding apprenticeship and said he hid $200 in my toolbox. Has anyone else stumbled onto a note they totally forgot existed?

Man that's wild. Finding something like that years later has gotta hit different. Your dad wanted you to know he believed in you and honestly that's the kind of thing that sticks with you forever.

You ever have a buddy who found something like that years later? My friend Dave's dad passed when he was 19, and he didn't find a goodbye letter until like four years later when he was cleaning out his old closet at his mom's place. It was tucked inside a book he'd borrowed from his dad in middle school that he never returned. @jakewhite basically hit the nail on the head, that stuff stays with you forever.

Oh, that's heartbreaking but beautiful too. A letter like that, hidden away and found at just the right time... it's like he was still looking out for you from wherever he is. I'm glad you finally got to read those words from him.
