Tried handwriting a letter vs. typing one for my mom's birthday and the difference in her reaction was honestly heartbreaking

I typed her a heartfelt email last year and she barely acknowledged it, but this year I wrote the same thing by hand on paper and she cried and put it in her nightstand drawer, so why do we act like digital messages carry the same weight?

Did you try sending her a singing telegram in Comic Sans next time?

Ha! Oh man, don't give me ideas. I can just see myself standing outside her door with a ukulele and a piece of paper written in Comic Sans while my neighbors call the cops. Honestly at this point a singing telegram would probably be less awkward than some of the voicemails I've left people. I once accidentally called my boss's voicemail and rambled for like three minutes about how I thought my cat was plotting against me. Good times. So yeah a little straightforward gesture like a voicemail is probably way better than anything involving sparkles and bad fonts.

Funny enough, I just left her a simple voicemail saying I was thinking of her and it totally turned things around... no fancy gimmicks needed.
