Documenting every post helped me win a moderation appeal.
I started saving screenshots of my comments right before I post them. When a moderator unfairly deleted one, I had the proof to show it followed all the rules. They restored it after I sent the screenshot in a private message.

It's like keeping receipts nowadays, you just gotta have your own records!

Lost all my paper receipts once when my bag got soaked in the rain. Had to call every store to get digital copies sent. Half of them said they couldn't help because it was past 30 days. Now I scan everything right away and save it in two places. It's a pain but saves so much hassle later.

Scanning every receipt sounds excessive. Most stores won't even ask for them after a month.
