Took me 3 weeks to get my HOA to fix a leaky sprinkler head
I noticed water pooling by the mailbox back in early June. Called the HOA office, they said someone would come out in a week. Two weeks later, nothing happened, so I called again and got transferred to three different people. Turns out they had the wrong address on the work order the whole time. Has anyone else dealt with this kind of runaround from their neighborhood board?

I used to think HOAs were just busybodies but honestly after dealing with ours for a leaky pipe I get it now. They dropped the ball so hard and I was the one who had to chase them down for weeks. Guess I was wrong about them being totally useless though because they did eventually fix it.

Document everything next time. Dates, names, times you called, what they said, the whole thing. I learned the hard way after a similar situation with our HOA and a fence issue that took three months. They kept saying they'd send someone then nothing. Once I had a folder with all the proof and started cc'ing the board president on every email, things actually moved. These places respond to paper trails and public pressure, not to being nice.
