That time I dropped $150 on a “professional” snake relocation kit
I thought I was getting into a legit side gig catching and moving rattlers for ranchers, so I bought this pricey grabber and heavy-duty bag set from a online outfitter... The grabber broke on the second use and the bag had a hole I didn't notice until a gopher snake escaped in my truck. Anyone else waste cash on gear that turned out to be junk for a weird job you tried?

Man, that reminds me of the time I spent $80 on a "professional" bee vacuum for relocating swarms. Thing worked great for about two minutes before the motor started smoking and I had to dump a whole swarm out of my trunk. At least your snake just got loose in the cab, you didn't have to explain to your wife why there were angry bees buzzing around the glovebox.

Tape the grabber handle with hockey tape right out of the box, that joint always fails first on the cheap welds. @logan_mitchell that bee vacuum story is brutal, but at least bees are predictable compared to a loose snake exploring your dashboard. Use a drywall bucket with a locking lid and a piece of PVC pipe instead, costs about 15 bucks total and won't let anything escape.

Honestly, is grabbing a random snake with a grabber really that much different than using a broom and a bucket? Seems like for $150 you could've just bought a sturdy trash can and a long stick. A hole in the bag sounds like a minor annoyance, not a total disaster. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like people overthink these side gigs.
