Rant: Spent $80 on a fancy composting bin and it did nothing but attract raccoons

I bought this tumbler thing off Amazon cause I wanted to be eco friendly and save on fertilizer. But after 3 weeks it smelled so bad my neighbor complained. Plus the raccoons figured out the latch in 2 nights. Now I just dump scraps straight in the dirt and its way simpler. Anybody else get burned by a high end compost setup?

$80 for a raccoon buffet, that's rough. Honestly, I bought a $60 Bokashi bucket thinking I was gonna be a composting genius and it just turned into a slimy, maggot-filled science experiment in my kitchen. @jessica707 you're dead on, those raccoons showed up within two days for mine too, they popped the lid off like it was a Tupperware container. Ngl, now I just throw everything in a pile behind the garage and call it a day, way less stressful.
