Kinda proud I finally fixed my gutters after 6 months of putting it off

So I had this one section of gutter that would dump water right onto my sidewalk every time it rained. I kept telling myself I'd get to it next weekend, then next month, you know how it goes. Finally got up there last Saturday with a ladder and some basic tools, turns out a leaf filled downspout was the whole problem. Took me maybe 45 minutes to clear it out once I stopped procrastinating. Has anyone else had a tiny home fix take way longer to actually do than the work itself?

Oh man, gutters are the worst for procrastination (I say as someone who definitely let a maple sapling grow in one once). I finally tackled my own clogged downspout issue last fall after watching a puddle form right by my front door every single time it rained for months. The kicker is it was just a tennis ball that had gotten lodged in there from some neighbor kids playing. Literally took me 5 minutes with a plumbing snake to pop it out and I felt like an absolute idiot for putting it off so long. It's wild how our brains make such a big deal out of these tiny jobs when the actual work is usually way easier than we imagined.

That tennis ball story is pretty funny honestly. I've noticed this pattern in my own life with stuff like hanging a new shower curtain or changing a lightbulb in a high ceiling. It's like our brains build up these tasks into this huge mental mountain that takes months to climb when really it's just a little hill. Same thing happens with scheduling doctor appointments or even just calling a friend back. I think it's our brains trying to protect us from something uncomfortable or unknown even when the actual thing is totally fine. The worst part is once you finally do it you spend the next week annoyed at yourself for waiting so long.
