Cousin told me to rotate my mattress every 3 months, I waited 6 years and now I sleep in a crater
My cousin Mark, who works at a furniture warehouse, kept nagging me to flip my mattress every season but I figured he was just trying to sell me a new one later. After 6 years of ignoring him, I finally flipped it and found a 3 inch deep body-shaped dip that explains why my back has been killing me during my night shifts. Is it worth trying to fix this massive divot or do I just start saving for a new mattress now?

Oh man, that's rough. My buddy Tim let his go for about four years and ended up with a permanent indent that looked like someone had traced his body with a marker. He tried one of those mattress toppers but it was like putting a bandaid on a canyon. Just start saving, you'll never get that dip out.

ngl @logan658 feels a bit dramatic lmao. yeah dips are annoying but unless you sleep in a literal crater i doubt it's that deep.

Flip it back and add a thick mattress topper, it'll buy you at least another year or two if you're not rolling in cash right now. The dip is just foam compression, not a structural failure, so a good topper can smooth out the surface and give your back a break. Worst case you waste 50 bucks on the topper and still buy a new mattress later, but it's worth a shot before dropping hundreds you don't have to.
