Switched my stance on the Resident Evil 2 remake after playing it with the original soundtrack

I used to say the 2019 version was just flashy eye candy that missed the tone of the 1998 game, but swapping in the old music tracks made the pacing click for me. Has anyone else had a remake change their mind after a simple settings tweak?

Yeah the "nostalgia bait" thing is funny because I used to think the same until I actually went back and played it. What's funny is how much the old RE2 soundtrack plays with your expectations, doesn't it? The remake went too quiet and moody, losing that panic feeling. The original made me feel like I was in a zombie movie from the 90s, while the remake felt like I was just walking through a haunted house by myself.
