Chose a tiny wheatpaste over a massive mural last week

I was walking through Brooklyn and had to pick between photographing a huge colorful mural or this tiny, barely-noticeable wheatpaste of a frog holding a clock. I went with the frog because it felt more personal, and turns out the artist is some local who only puts them up at 4am. Anyone else find themselves drawn to the small, weird stuff over the big flashy pieces?

Yeah that frog's kinda perfect though. There's something about finding a piece that feels like a secret, like you're in on something most people walk right by. Big murals are cool but they're shouting at you, you know? Tiny stuff like that feels like it's just for the people paying attention.

That line about "shouting at you" really hit me. Big things demand your attention but tiny stuff rewards you for giving yours. It's like that everywhere now. Everything is so loud - billboards, ads, notifications all fighting for your eyes. But the best stuff is quiet. A weird sticker on a street sign. A hand painted sign for a local business that's been there 40 years. You have to slow down to notice it. That's the whole point I think. The world is screaming and the quiet stuff is a break from the noise.
