That Banksy style mural downtown I thought was a fake... turns out it's legit

There's this big piece behind the old diner on 3rd street that looked way too clean to be real street art. I figured some college kid just copied the stencil style from Google images. Turns out after 4 months of rain and sun, the paint hasn't faded or peeled at all. Someone on the forum pointed out the signature tag matches an artist from the 2000s who only does permissions pieces. I finally checked with the building owner and he said he paid $3,000 for it back in 2019. What sold you on a piece you were sure was fake?

Oh man, that's wild! I had almost the exact same thing happen with this big wheatpaste piece near the train station. I spent months walking past it thinking it was some student's school project because the colors were too bright and the paper wasn't peeling. Then I found out the artist's local guy who's known for putting protective coating on all his stuff. The building owner told me the same thing, he paid like $2,500 for it in 2018 and it still looks fresh. What really sold me was when I saw the signature in the bottom corner matched his old stuff from Instagram. Now I feel dumb for talking trash about it for so long.
