The day I realized my neighborhood council was hoarding $14,000
I always thought our neighborhood association was barely scraping by. Then I asked for the budget spreadsheet at a meeting last month and saw we had $14,000 sitting in a savings account doing nothing. Nobody knew about it because the old treasurer never told anyone. Has anyone else dug into their local HOA or council finances and found cash just sitting?

Yeah that happened to us too, we just had to ask for the receipts and money showed up.

Wow... @evahenderson is right, it's like every group has that one person who just sits on money until someone asks. Fourteen grand though? That's a whole lot of "scraping by"...

Man, that's wild but honestly not that surprising. Feels like every group that handles money ends up with some secret stash nobody knows about because nobody wants to ask the boring questions. It's the same thing with church budgets and little league funds - someone sits on the cash forever until someone else actually looks at the paperwork.
