After a blackout in St. Louis I started unplugging everything at night

I was living in an old apartment in St. Louis a couple years back and one night the power went out for like 6 hours. When it came back on I heard this buzzing sound from my kitchen that wasn't there before. Turned out my toaster oven had been slowly dying and the power surge finished it off. That got me thinking about how many appliances just sit there drawing power even when they're off. Now I walk around before bed and unplug anything that isn't actively being used. It's kind of a hassle but I swear my electric bill dropped like 20 bucks a month after I started. Has anyone else noticed phantom power messing with their stuff or is it just me?

Man same here, once I actually tried it out I couldn't believe the difference it made.
