Was convinced for years that salt ruins coffee until I tried a pinch in my morning brew
I used to get into arguments about this at the diner near my apartment, telling people they were ruining their drink. Last month I finally tried it and the bitterness just disappeared. Did anyone else have a stupid food belief they held onto way too long?

Funny you mention that, I read somewhere that the chemistry is actually legit. The salt cancels out the bitter compounds or something like that. Honestly it makes sense now but I felt so dumb when I finally tried it after years of being stubborn about it. Kind of like how I used to swear ketchup on scrambled eggs was gross until I was at a diner and my friend made me taste hers. Now I put hot sauce on everything instead but still.

Oh man, the ketchup on eggs thing is too real. I was the exact same way until I accidentally grabbed the wrong plate at a diner and took a bite before realizing it had ketchup all over it. Now I'm the one putting it on there and judging everyone who doesn't. It's wild how we shut stuff down for years without even trying it once.

Ha! So the coffee trick is basically peer pressure with science backing it up.
