Honestly, trying to learn HTML from a printed manual in the late 90s was way more confusing than today's interactive courses.

My design teacher swears by The Non-Designer's Design Book. Its basic rules make way more sense than those manuals.

Thinking about running biodiesel in my old Duramax. Heard mixed things on cold weather performance.

Wait, you're thinking of running biodiesel in a 2005? I mean, maybe it's just me but that seems risky for an engine that old. The cold weather thing is real, biodiesel can gel up way easier than regular diesel. I've heard stories of totally clogged fuel filters when it gets cold. For a tow rig, I'd be way too nervous about getting stuck somewhere. Honestly, I'd just stick with the normal stuff in winter.

My geology club split over allowing kids to handle fragile samples

My friend Liam worked at a small museum in Toledo. He was moving a replica T. rex tooth and dropped it on concrete. It shattered into about twenty pieces, but putting it back together forced him to learn every ridge and groove. He always said that break was the best training he ever had.

My boss wants us back in the office full-time, and I'm thinking about the carbon cost.

Has your company made any public promises about cutting emissions (you know, like a sustainability pledge)? Might be a good angle to show they're working against their own goals.

Why does nobody mention the hassle of explaining to friends that avionics isn't just fancy car repair?

Calling avionics 'fancy car repair' is the kind of take that makes me want to facepalm. Like, sure, let me just repurpose a flight control system for your surround sound, what could go wrong. Your cousin asking you to tweak his home theater is like asking a brain surgeon to fix a leaky faucet. The levels of wrong are almost impressive. I bet he thought you could just plug in some wires and make it fly.
