Finally got my first big wedding order after three years in business

Back in 2021, I started my little shop in Spokane and mostly did small bouquets. Last week, a bride came in and booked me for her whole August wedding, a $2,000 order. What's one thing you wish you knew before your first big wedding job?

Showerthought: I thought those magnetic corner trowels were just a gimmick

My buddy in Denver lent me his Goldblatt 4 inch model last week for a tricky bathroom ceiling. I was shocked at how much cleaner the inside corners came out on the first pass, with way less buildup. What other tools did you guys think were nonsense until you actually gave them a shot?

Hot take: Free guided walks in my town's park are a hidden gem for travelers

I saw a fresh sign posted at the park while I was working on a lawn close by. It says they run free guided nature walks every Saturday morning, covering local plants and history. That's a solid way for visitors to explore without spending any cash. I'm really happy to have stumbled on this and tell people about it.

Vent: A cold snap on my mountain trip locked up my fuel lines

I drove my diesel van up to the cabins last week for some time off. The weather turned fast and the diesel in my tank gelled overnight. Could not get the engine to turn over the next morning, totally stuck. Had to call a buddy to bring additive and a heater to fix it. If you travel where it gets cold, treat your fuel before you go, not after.
