I switched from using a standard floral foam cage to a chicken wire frame for a large arch last weekend.
The arch was for a wedding in Charlotte, and we had to set it up outside. The foam cage was heavy, soaked up a ton of water, and started to sag after about six hours in the sun. The chicken wire frame was lighter, used less water, and the flowers stayed fresh and secure for the entire event. The setup time was about the same, but the result was much sturdier. Has anyone else made this switch for outdoor pieces? I'm curious if there are better ways to secure the wire.
