Had a wedding in Dallas where the bride wanted all white peonies, but our supplier only had blush.

We had to mix in some white garden roses and ranunculus to fill out the arrangements. The bride actually loved the final look more than her original plan. Has anyone else had a client change their mind after seeing a backup design?

Happens more than people admit. A forced change can open their eyes. Clients get fixated on a picture from Pinterest. The real thing in front of them is different. Sometimes the backup just works better with the actual room, the light, everything. They fall in love with the new plan.

Forced changes can also protect designers from burnout. When a client is locked on one image, it turns the process into a fight to copy something exactly. That backup plan lets you actually solve problems again, which is why most of us got into this work. It shifts the energy from "make this" to "make this work," and that's way more fun for everyone.

Wait, people actually fight to copy a Pinterest picture exactly? I mean, @claire872 is totally right that the real room changes everything. It's wild to me that anyone would ignore the actual light and space they have.
