The wedding planner who wanted a 'rustic' bouquet with zero brown stems
Last week in Denver, a client asked for a 'rustic' look but freaked out over any natural stem texture. She literally pointed at a dried thistle and said 'make it look like that, but green and fresh'. I spent three hours sourcing weird foliage before she canceled the order. Has anyone else had a client who wanted two opposite things at once?

Had a guy ask for a vintage wood fence that looked "lived in" but also demanded every single picket be perfectly straight with zero knots or grain marks. Told him I could do one or the other, not both. He went with the perfect pickets and then complained it looked too new.

Lived in but perfect" used to sound doable to me. Not anymore.

My cousin is a carpenter and he had a client just like @blake792 mentioned, they wanted a farmhouse table with "character" but sanded down every single scratch and nail mark he added. It's like they want the IDEA of rustic without any of the actual real world stuff that makes it look that way. That Denver bride wanting a thistle but green is the same exact mental block, they saw a picture on Pinterest and have no clue what the materials actually are. You end up chasing a ghost for hours and they still get mad.
