Hit 100 staple gun misfires before I finally got the hang of it

I was putting up new ceiling insulation in my garage last weekend and counted 100 times that staple just bounced off the joist or shot sideways. Turned out I was holding the gun at the wrong angle and not pressing hard enough. Anyone else have a tool that took way too many tries to figure out?

Oh man, I feel your pain. My first time with a staple gun was a mess of bent staples and bruised fingers too, did you figure out the trick partway through or just brute force it?

20 years of using staple guns and I honestly think brute force is the way to go. You waste more time trying to finesse the angle than just pushing down hard and fixing the bent staple later. Ngl, bruises build character and bent staples are cheap, so just mash that thing.

Turns out my dad had the same problem with his old manual staple gun back in the 80s, @shane_hayes. He told me once he spent a whole Saturday cussing at it in the garage. I remember he finally gave up and used a hammer and nails for that project. Then like 10 years later he found a new staple gun at a garage sale and it worked perfect first try. So sometimes it's just the tool, not you. Bent staples happen to everyone, I still get them no matter how careful I am.
